Without Asics, there probably wouldn’t be a Nike.

This remarkable statement is absolutely true. The Japanese sportswear brand is more than just a sneaker company; it has a long and exciting history that few other brands can boast.

Although Asics was historically limited to performance athletic shoes designed to be worn by Olympians and marathon runners, the brand suddenly found itself right in the middle of the streetwear/sneaker business, competing directly with the very brand it had originally collaborated with: Nike.

Nike, Inc. (originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports) was founded in 1963 to sell Asics sneakers in the U.S. After a few years, the relationship between the two companies broke down, and they sued each other, with Nike retaining the naming rights to several shoe models.

Asics sneaker models like the Gel Lyte 3 and the Gel Lyte 5 are now known worldwide. These models are also in high demand in our sneaker scene and are often highly sought after.

Special collaborations, such as those with Sean Wotherspoon or Ronnie Fieg, have repeatedly taken the brand to new heights. In 2015, Asics teamed up with Afew and released the Gel Lyte 3 "Koi." An iconic sneaker of its time. Currently, this sneaker, complete with its special box, is trading on StockX for approximately 900€.

Asics shoes are highly regarded worldwide and have become an indispensable part of sports culture. They are used in various sports, such as tennis, as casual shoes, for basketball, or for hiking. OG sneakerheads, in particular, are always excited about collaborations and new versions of the sneakers.
