Puma
The next German company
Some say a cat has nine lives. Puma is a cat that doesn’t need any extra lives. The brand has dominated the sports apparel and accessories industry for years, with the occasional competitor. Over the past few decades, Puma products have been worn by some of the best and most talented athletes the world has ever seen.
The Puma brand’s journey began with two brothers who set out to manufacture performance-enhancing athletic shoes. Rudolf and Adolf Dassler founded the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory in 1924. Their first major breakthrough came at the 1936 Olympic Games, when world-class athletes wore Dassler athletic shoes and won gold medals in them.

More information about Puma
Puma was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler; the assets from the old business were divided equally between the brothers. That same year, Puma also launched its first soccer cleat, the Atom. Puma’s first major contribution to the world of soccer came in 1952, when it introduced the Super Atom, the first soccer cleat with screw-in studs.
In the years that followed, the company developed an expanded version called “Brasil.” This gained international fame when the Brazilian team won the 1958 World Cup in Sweden wearing Puma shoes.
Puma now generates revenue of 5.2 billion euros (as of 2020), thanks in part to rapper Jay-Z, who took over as Creative Director at Puma Basketball in 2018.
With stars like The Weeknd, Kylie Jenner, Big Sean, Rihanna, and many others, they are boosting Puma’s reputation and market standing. Consequently, sneaker releases are becoming increasingly sought-after and, in the best-case scenario, sometimes sell out.
