Air Jordan 6

The Jordan that Michael Jordan wore when he won his first NBA title—the Air Jordan 6.

It was first seen in 1991 at the All-Star Game in North Carolina. Back then, MJ wore it in his nostalgic Infrared Colorway. Michael Jordan won the NBA championship, the scoring title, and his second MVP title while wearing this shoe.

Here, too—similar to the Air Jordan 3—there have been relatively few collaborations. The most notable ones for this silhouette are with Travis Scott, Aleali May, OVO / Drake, Paris St. Germain, and Social Status. The best-known colorways are, as already mentioned, Infrared DMP, Carmine, Hare, and Tinker.

You can find all upcoming and past Air Jordan 6 models in the HEAT MVMNT Sneaker Release Calendar.

More information about the Air Jordan 6

The most famous collaboration with an artist on an Air Jordan 6 in recent years was with Travis Scott. They created a total of two colorways: the British Khaki and the Medium Olive. Both are now worth double their original price on the resale market and are very popular among sneakerheads.

Many retro colorways were reissued in 2000, with the classic Nike Air logo on the back of the sneaker replaced by the Jumpman logo. In 2002, the low-top version of the Air Jordan 6 hit the market. The shoe is an important part of Michael Jordan’s history and the Jordan sneaker family. To this day, the shoe continues to sell very well, and Nike—or rather, Jordan—regularly releases new versions.

When the Air Jordan 6 was first developed, it was particularly important to Michael Jordan to have reinforcement around the toe area. As a result, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield opted for a more durable material throughout the entire shoe. In addition, a solid rubber outsole was used, which gave players a more robust and slip-resistant grip on the court.
