We reported a while back on Nike’s massive marketing campaign, which is mobilizing all of its ambassadors and partners just in time for the World Cup. In addition to athletes, the campaign is primarily fronted by figures from pop culture as well as representatives from streetwear and high fashion.
However, we can now be more specific, as seven of the upcoming collaborations have already been officially unveiled and will be available as early as next week at Nike will be released. Fans can look forward to jerseys, sportswear, and an iconic sneaker that has been given its own unique makeover by each partner.
Here are the seven Nike collaborations:
As the title suggests, the Nike Cryoshot is the focus of the upcoming collaborations. The sneaker was developed by Nike designer Enrico Carbonere and was, at the time, an attempt to translate iconic soccer cleats like the Mercurial R9 into a lifestyle sneaker. The transparent outsole is meant to give the impression that the original soccer cleat, with its studs, has been “frozen” and preserved for eternity. The name combines “Cryo” (freezing) and “Shot” (soccer shot) and refers both to the soccer DNA and to the concept of freezing a legendary moment on the field.
For the World Cup, Palace Skateboards, NOCTA, Jacquemus, Patta, Slawn, PEACEMINUSONE and Virgil Abloh Archive (V.A.A.) have each created a colorway for the legendary soccer sneaker. Our highlights are the clean Jacquemus x Nike Cryoshot Tiempo R10 for France with a tricolor outsole, as well as the Nike Cryoshot Zoom M9 by V.A.A. for the U.S., complete with cable ties and iconic “AIR” lettering on the heel. As for apparel, we’re big fans of the rugby long-sleeve from the Virgil Abloh Archive and the long-sleeve jersey from Nocta.
When will the collection be released?
