A Hybrid: Nike Atelier Merc Premium

True Swoosh fans have a soft spot in their hearts for hybrids of different sneakers. Nike Over the years, Nike has combined so many of its iconic models that it’s now become a common practice in Oregon to rummage through the archives and fuse legendary sneakers together, just like Son Goku and Vegeta back in the day. Numerous past releases have already proven that this formula for success works.

Sneakers like the Air Max 1/97 by Sean Wotherspoon, the LDWaffle by Sacai, and the Jordan IV x Nike SB, in particular, underscore Nike’s dominance as a brand with one of the strongest archives. And since the Swoosh also boasts a renowned heritage in soccer, a new Cyborg was launched just in time for the World Cup in the U.S., featuring one of the most popular soccer sneakers.

Here’s a look at the Nike Atelier Merc Premium:

In addition to the high-quality Atelier collection—which was created in collaboration with various countries and partners—the Nike Atelier Merc Premium takes center stage in the new collection. It combines the original upper of the 1998 Mercurial soccer cleat with the outsole unit of the 2025 Pegasus Premium.

The all-black sneaker is thus part retro sneaker and part futuristic runner, featuring a visible Zoom Air bubble. Thanks to the black leather upper and the tonal colorway, the sneaker is Premium is very fitting here. To complement the look, the collection is rounded out by apparel such as a jacket and shorts made of water-repellent wool with an Aerofit lining.
